Gorundhog Day - The everyday life of a SAHM
Is it just me, or is the life of a stay at home mom something that resembles Groundhog Day? I am such a structured person and it is hard for me to take my kids off schedule. Naps at this time everyday..... Trying to find something to do to kill the time before lunch and nap. Being a SAHM is TRULY the hardest job I've ever done - (and I've done a lot of jobs!!) I love my kids more than anything, but I also miss that life of mine that existed before I got pregnant the first time. My husband and I dined out and had cocktails and traveled - now bathtime is at 7 and bedtime at 8 and I am ready to pass out by 10. Every single day is the exact repeat of the previous and I am looking for something to pass the time with the kids in the morning for a couple hours - any ideas??!!!!! It's getting too darn hot to go to the park lately. 4 comments from 4 users

We went to the new water park at Jastro the other day from 10-12 and it was perfect. Not sure they ages of your kids, but it is safe for toddlers on up to run and play while Mom's can enjoy the big shade trees on the side lines. There was even a breeze so it was a great way to spend the morning and still get home in time for lunch. We usually stay home in the afternoons because it is sooo hot and it's usually our down time anyway, even if I can't get my almost 4 year old to nap most of the time. posted by

I like to take the kiddos to a book reading once a week. The reading takes about a half-hour, and then you can wander a bit, look at books, or go home (my kids are usually done being calm by the end). They've got them at all of the libraries, Russos has one, Barnes and Noble does, and my favorite is the one at Borders. Check out the Events Calendar--it's got a pretty comprehensive list of where the readings are and on what days. :) posted by

If you are a social person....you will go nutty at home with kids and no adult contact!!! Try groups like MOPS (Mother's of Preschoolers) or other stay at home parent groups, like Meetups (also on this site). It was difficult for me to adjust to being a stay at home mom, after working all of my life. I love being home with my kids; however, the everyday at home with little ones can drive anyone insane...especially if you are an extrovert! Check out www.MOPS.org to see what groups are in your area. This is a great non-profit organization that is geared to supporting moms of kids, whatever your age. meetups are also a great way to connect with moms at home, story time is good too. (Personally, hasn't been a big thing with my boys....they prefer to run around the store, library or just buy a book and have me read it a million times at home.) posted by
