"I poo, I pee" update
We wisened up and realized it was way too soon for potty training. For now, we'll just let him run and get the diapers, and continue to show him where the bathroom is. Until then, I'm OK with changing a few, but only a few, dirty diapers. 4 comments from 4 users

ha, yeah... good ol' potty training. We put forth lots of effort for like a year to get Zoe to try... but until she was ready, it was a no-go. It's certainly a learning time for all! posted by

I want to get Katelyn a training toilet because she tells us when she's gone, but I think it's still too soon... How old is your son? Katelyn is 18 months old. I think I'll wait until closer to two... We tried twice to put her on the big toilet, but she freaked out when she was about a foot above the toilet, so we didn't get very far. :-)

Kids are ready to toilet train between the ages of 2 and 4 - that's the general consensus. Unfortunately, most preschools don't go for that. Have no fear, the child will toilet train! posted by

I started way too early with my oldest son on the potty training issue. He was about 22 months and I was tired of diapers. Unfortunately it took me almost a year to get him fully potty trained, but he was trained before #2 showed up in October of 2005 (their birthdays are 6 weeks short of 3 years apart). And I feel that I did it all wrong, I got on to him for making messes, missing the target, etc. A few months back I tried this 7 days, $70 method on #2 son, that some other moms from a MOPS group I attended had used, that didn't work very well though. The theory is let the kid run around naked for 7 days then spent $70 to have your carpets cleaned. Luckily we have wood floors downstairs, but carpet upstairs (and that's where most of the poo accidents happened). I just don't think my 2 1/2 year old is ready for it yet, he's progressing slower than his bigger brother did at this age, so the potty training it off until next August when big brother goes to school and mommy has more one on one time to train him. It really isn't easy training a little one with a 5 year old running around distracting him. I was told when I was potty training Cole that when his little sibling came along he would revert back to making messes and being "un-potty trained", but it didn't happen, thank heavens. Other than someone having to unzip or unbutton his pants, he was happy to be in big boy chonies. Good luck when you do try to potty train!
