Signs we go certain places too much
Very early on, The Pumpkin could recognize the logos for stores like Target, Costco and Trader Joe's--and ask to to there, unprompted. (Oh, and distinguish between bookstores by the Borders and Barnes & Noble logos.) Just now, as we're getting ready to drive to preschool and she's pushing her stuffed hippo around in a stroller through the house, I heard her say this: "I'm taking my hippo for a walk." <wait for it, wait for it> "We're going to Starbucks." 4 comments from 4 users

LOL Sometimes I feel terrible when my kids recognize these things! My daughter has been able to request a bean and cheese burrito from Del Taco specifically for as long as I can remember! Maybe we eat out too much...... posted by

My son is a BIG Dale Jr. fan, who up until this year was sponsored by Budweiser. So my son would point out "Junior" everywhere we went, when he was really only seeing Budweiser advertisements (which by the way ARE everywhere you go). Luckily, Junior is now sponsored by Amp energy drink (a little better) and the National Guard. He also knew the color schemes for McDonalds, Taco Bell, Panda Express and Jack in the Box before he could say the actual names of those places. We picked our restaurants by color for a while. posted by

Jason, you just brought back some memories. I remember the kids doing this too. They knew what Star Trek was just my the font in the logo. Kids are little sponges at that age....use it to your advantage to get them to learn more. We'd point out all signs and read them aloud. Yes they'd mimic in return, but it was an early reading lesson. posted by

haha.. kind of scary isn't it? I mean, to some extent its cute, but we see that with Z Rock too. She knows Burger King, but we don't remember teaching that to her. Its almost like, hey, wait a minute, you can't advertise to her!
