The Power of the Written Word

I don't know if any of you noticed the writing of mine in the Californian recently, but many people who I didn't expect to notice noticed.

My words were from my writing here about Emma's difficulty with transition to Middle School and I continue to get comments and kudos about it... and Emma has gotten lots of positive attention. I was a bit concerned when the schoool counselor called me after receiving a copy of the article from Emma's teacher.

The school counselor brought Emma in for a meeting and they had a fantastic conversation which was probably the highlight of Emma's Middle School experience thus far.

Katherine's English teacher at East High read it and commented... and the reader who made Emma happiest was the Mom one of her friends from her old elementary school.

Emma got an invitation to Ventura for the weekend, so trust me my friends, Emma is very happy to have something beachy to look forward to come Friday night.

We have been watching the Math Class Videos Holt Rinehart and Winston puts out so I am re-learning 6th and 7th grade math long forgotten. Emma is attending her youth group at church and enjoying that and the counselor is looking into starting a Twilight Book Club specifically for Emma and also, the school paper looks like it may happen....

I met a seventh grade girl last night who told me this year has been much, much better for her than sixth grade so I am breathing easier.

Everything is going to be ok.
