As Halloween nears, I am curios as to which most prefer. Do you door- to -door trick - or - treat, organized function on Halloween, or restrict to only family and friends? As I get older I don't see as many kids doing the door to door thing like when I was a kid.

Saturday , my family went to the Boo at the Zoo. We had som much fun. So many very creative costumes and kids running amuck. My boys had a good time seeing and animals. The reptile house had a snake out to see and feel. The bears ate La Rosa bars. The kiddo's got a laugh watching them lick the ice cream. My parents joined us this year as we celebrated my dad's birthday that day too. It was a fun time had by all. A few years back I took some cake decorating classes. It was a fun time with another Mom, for some time away from home time. ( that really sounded bad huh). I got excited when my Littlest one turned 1. I thought long and hard and made him a Cookie Monster cake to go with his Birthday theme. My brother and his wife liked it so well they asked me if I would do a cake for my Neice's 1st birthday, what an honor. After completing the cakes I have decided not to quit my day job and go into the cake business because my family likes to eat. Saturday, September 27, 2008 kicks off the annual Cub Scout / Boy Scout Popcorn sale. This is the equivalent to the Girl Scout cookie sale. This is their BIG fundraiser of the year. Proceeds benefit the Pack activities as well as Den activities and Council activities. Watch for the boys in your neighborhood for order sheets and support a very worthy cause. I saw a comment before that someone is involved in the bunco event for hearts. please contact me., thanks I sit here entering this blog feeling like I should have blue hair and 50 cats. My oldest ( but actually my baby), the one I gave birth to, gave up a girlish figure for, nurtured, watched grow in so many ways....... has turned 13. Im just sitting on the side lines now waiting for the TEEN DEMON to take over my littel angel. Why is it I never feel older on my birthday, but I feel like an antique on my kid's birthday. Am I alone here? Have any of you fellow bloggers noticed our lack of selection when it comes to party decorations? I am planning a dinner on Saturday for my parents 39th wedding anniversary. Looking for a theme has me in a quandry. Adult themes consist of: Casino Night, 70's music(Disco), Nascar, 50's Diner,MArdi Gras or western. I chose the western theme , it seems to be better suited for my family. I was very disappointed at the selection of decorations and have decided to just make a few things on my own. ( I use to Teach Crafts at a Special Needs school). So I have come to the conclusion that if you like Disney Princesses or CARS.... your in luck. But for a more unique theme, you have to be crafty and a great imagination. So now we are starting the most looked forward day of the year ( ranking right up there with Christmas)... FIRST DAY OF SCHOOL. Please tell me I'm not the only parent out there that is having a time with getting older ( as in 12-13) year old boys not wanting to get the MOP of hair ,cut. Now dont get me wrong, I have a great kid. Honors Student, polite, loving, well mannered....... BUT, this hair battle is one Ive have avoided for the longest time(I have chosen to pick my battles with this one) this is not a battle I have wanted to fight. But as of late he has decided he no longer wants the short spiky cut and wants the long shaggy as I call it MOP do. So whats a mother to do, Im dreading picture day. Well, we finally moved into a house with lots more room. Finally both boys have their own rooms. But I'm ohhhh so tired of looking a boxes and having my entire life in shambles. I have to keep telling myself it will all be worth it. Oh, another fun Bakersfield Summer. Nothings better than a big ol' scoop of ice cream, except seeing for the first time a youngun' eatin their very first one. |
