Getting ready for the 4th of July!!

The 4th of July is a little more than a week away....  my kids are SO excited about the fact that fireworks stands are being contructed at every corner!  We have a jar of change that is rolled, the kids (dad included) have been scrounging pennies, saving change and trying to get more money to buy fireworks.....nearly $24 so far - thanks to a big addition from Grandma and Pop!  So, today, we have dug out the 4th of July decorations, changed the welcome sign, created a new wreath for the door, and the boys are ready to get dollars for the change!!  Even though I have pre-ordered a package from our nephew's soccer club....that's a surprise!

They are already talking about the 4th of July parade in our neighborhood, what kind of home made ice cream we are going to make, who is coming over for our fireworks, and what we should eat for breakfast, lunch and dinner!  I know it will be a great day!  Does anyone else have plans or kids that are as excited as mine??

Eek don't remind me. I'm excited and I'm not. It's one of my favorite holidays but my sweet baby girl is turning 6 the day before and I just can't believe it!

Since I've been married to my husband (with the exception of the year Lacie was born) we have gone to my inlaws every year. They live right across the street from the college so we get free seats for the big show! All family and friends come from out of town and we have TONS of food. It's hot but fun :)
I think we need to get our decorations out!

We're going back home for the weekend (minus my hubby who will be in FL) because I have an aunt and cousin w/her two kids that will be visiting for the first time in about 4 years! I'm really excited to see them :) Otherwise I bet we'll just be seeing the show at the junior college down South that night with my sisters or something.

I grew up about two blocks from BC and the fireworks show...loved the fun, not the noise!  Now, the boys are really into the fireworks and watching them...I still hate the noise, but not as bad!  Happy birthday to your soon to be 6 yer old!  I thought I would have a melt down with my first born turning 6 - it wasn't that bad...just reminds me that I'm getting older!  (since my b-day was this month...)  Have a Happy and Safe 4th everyone!

Last year we went to the beach and it was so much fun that we're now making it a tradition. We spent the day in Morro Bay and Cayucos and watched the fireworks in Cayucos. My husband has asthma and my kids have bad allergies, so it was so nice not having to deal with the bad air here! We're looking forward to our mini vacation next weekend!
