Hello everyone!  Fun to see all the new people.  I haven't been on here in a very long time.  One of my last entries was about wanting to have baby #2 and my fears about timing and getting sick again. Well, timing was great but I did get very sick!  I am now 19 weeks along with baby #2 and he or she (we find out on Tuesday!!!) has made me very sick!  I've only been feeling normal again for about a week now.  I hope I stay this...

My husband, Alex, over heard some women chatting about an effective disciplinary action.  He said the one was sharing with the other that she solved a lot of disciplinary issues with her toddlers by using a spray bottle.  She would spray the kids with water when they were misbehaving. I know this works well with cats, but with kids?!  What do you think?  I mean it's less "mean" than a spanking and it might help to just be startled enough to lose focus on the...

So my sweet darling Katelyn continues to have raging out-bursts, no big surprise.  But her behavior today was a bit more alarming.  She bit me 3 times.  She did it twice last night too.  She went through an ugly month like this at about 12 months old, so I thought we were done!  :(  Now it's worse because she seems to really understand that she's hurting me!  And she's refusing to say sorry and LAUGHS at me!  Oh My!  What do I do?  Twice...

A conversation I had with Katelyn (18 months old) two mornings ago. Me: Katie, you wanna have some breakfast?! Katelyn: Yeah... Me: Do you want some cereal? Katelyn: No... (said in her cute way) Me: Do you want some bread? Katelyn: No... (not sounding so cute now) Me: Do you want some eggs? Katelyn: No... (nearly screaming it now) Me: What do you want sweat-heart? (trying so hard to be patient!) Katelyn wiggles and I let her down as she whines at me.  She struts over to the...

It's been so long since Alex and I have had a night out together, without Katelyn, it almost seems foreign.  We weren't planning a date night, but TWO fell into our laps last week.  As I have mentioned, we do photography and we decided to place an ad with this site.  On Thursday morning Jillian (our rockin' advertisement guru) called to say she had two tickets to see Elton John on Friday night!  I didn't know what to think at first.  We didn't have a sitter, we had...

I've got Blue Baby Fever!  Here's the scoop: We are trying for our second child and we need to conceive by the end of May or wait until next year.  Why?  Well, we have a photography business and 80% of our business comes from weddings.  We wanted to get pregnant in February or March, but we have a wedding in New York in October and I can't fly if I am past 7 months pregnant.  So April is the earliest we could start trying.   We also have 2009 weddings booked...

Hello! My name is Rhiannon Solorzano and I am very excited to join RaisingBakersfield.com.  My husband, Alex, and I moved to Bakersfield, from Ontario, CA,  in 2004.  We really wanted to own a home, start a photography business and start a family and just couldn't see it happening for us in Southern California.  Even extremely small and run-down homes in terrible neighborhoods were going for over $300,000!  So one night Alex suggested we check out Bakersfield. ...
