Hello!
My name is Rhiannon Solorzano and I am very excited to join RaisingBakersfield.com.  My husband, Alex, and I moved to Bakersfield, from Ontario, CA,  in 2004.  We really wanted to own a home, start a photography business and start a family and just couldn't see it happening for us in Southern California.  Even extremely small and run-down homes in terrible neighborhoods were going for over $300,000!  So one night Alex suggested we check out Bakersfield.  I immediately recalled a trip to Bakersfield when I was in the 4th grade and wasn't too  keen on the idea.  But Alex showed me an article about Bakerfield and we were soon planning a weekend trip to check out Bakersfield.

We really loved Bakersfield from that very first visit.  Six months later we purchased our first home in the South West.  We quickly found a great church, Life Journey Christian Church, and got connected with a lot of amazing people.  Soon after we started our Photography business, Solorzano Photography http://www.solorzanophotogr... and it's doing amazingly well. 

Now we have a daughter, Katelyn, who's 18 months old and we are hoping to soon have another child.  We love being parents in such a great city!  We see Bakersfield as a big city with a lot of small town charm. 

I look forward to blogging about my experiences as a working-from home Mommy in Bakersfield.  I want to write about all the joys and trials and make great connections with all the RaisingBakersfield.com members.  I would also like to write reviews on events, services and opportunities that would interest parents in Bakersfield.
