Date Nights
It's been so long since Alex and I have had a night out together, without Katelyn, it almost seems foreign. We weren't planning a date night, but TWO fell into our laps last week. As I have mentioned, we do photography and we decided to place an ad with this site. On Thursday morning Jillian (our rockin' advertisement guru) called to say she had two tickets to see Elton John on Friday night! I didn't know what to think at first. We didn't have a sitter, we had work to get done, we had to get up early Saturday, etc... But it all worked out for us to go. We had a nice dinner at home with Katelyn and then my dad watched her for us. We enjoyed the concert (great music & seats too!). Afterwards, we drove around town trying to find a restaurant open to talk over coffee and dessert. By 11pm every place we tried had closed except for Denny's. So we had a nice time at Denny's. :) It was fun actually, because it reminded us of our early dating days in high school when we'd hang out with friends at Denny's... On Saturday we had a family photo session at the beach. Our original plans to take Katelyn and just have someone watch her during the shoot didn't work out. So my dad watched her for us for the entire day! We had a great shoot with an awesome family and ended our day by driving to San Luis Obispo. We walked around sans stroller & bebe! It was romantic. A huge golden moon in the sky, a cool ocean breeze and the charm of busy night-life in a quaint old town. We had a nice romantic dinner at a local Italian restaurant to top it all off! It was like a perfect weekend we never planned for.

It really was a blast! The best part was that it wasn't planned, there were no expectations just FUN! posted by

Sounds like fun! We definitely don't get the couple-sans-child-time we need. During The Pumpkin's recent preschool spring break, our childcare coverage contortions resulted in her staying with each set of grandparents for 2 nights each, hours south of here, so we actually got some nice alone time together. It doesn't come often, but it's sure nice when it happens. posted by

I am glad you had a chance to go out and have fun! It's important to go out and have some adult time! I checked out your portfolio on your site and your work is awesome! I love the photos you did of the precious little girl at the marketplace! You are very talented! It's also great to hear that Jillian is treating you well too! :) posted by
