"Now Arriving in Terrible-Two Land!"

A conversation I had with Katelyn (18 months old) two mornings ago.

Me: Katie, you wanna have some breakfast?!

Katelyn: Yeah...

Me: Do you want some cereal?

Katelyn: No... (said in her cute way)

Me: Do you want some bread?

Katelyn: No... (not sounding so cute now)

Me: Do you want some eggs?

Katelyn: No... (nearly screaming it now)

Me: What do you want sweat-heart? (trying so hard to be patient!)

Katelyn wiggles and I let her down as she whines at me.  She struts over to the fridge and reaches up towards the ice dispenser  and whines while stomping her feet, "IIIIIIIIIIIIIIIICCCCCE!"

Me (trying to avoid a meltdown so early in the day): "How 'bout some YUMMY bread with peanut butter, yeah?"

Katelyn: "IIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIII IIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIICE!" -as she bursts into tears!

Me: "You want ice?!"

Katelyn: "Ice, yeah!" (said as she nods her head, "yes!" & the tears suddenly stop flowing)

Me: "No sweetie, you can't have ice for--"

Katelyn (throwing herself to the floor screaming and kicking): "IIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIICE!!!!!!!!& quot;

Oh my!  We have officially arrived in Terrible-Two land!  And no passing "GO" or collecting my $200.00.

Holly let me know several times after turning two that I "ruined her life."  Of course, I laughed and then she laughed too.  I wonder if she'll laugh when she is 13?

Something that really helped us - Love and Logic.  You can look up the company on the web.  They have a cd and book on discipline for toddlers & preschoolers.  We love it.  Just a  thought.

"Parenting with Love & Logic" is a favorite of mine, too!! I hope this ice thing is not because of my daughter's influence!! Sorry if it is!

Becky,

Yes, it's alllllllllllllll Sarah's fault!!! LOL  But just about the ice.  I can't blame your 3-year-old for my child's terrible twos!  :)

And about the ice, Katelyn would have discovered the joys of crushed ice soon enough.  :)

I'll have to check out Love & Logic.

Thanks for the suggestion ladies!
