The day before yesterday K. found a black widow spider in the garage. She and J. were gaping: "oooo, big black spider!" 3 comments from 3 users

I HATE spiders, bugs and anything that does not belong in the home....when we moved into our home that had been vacant for some time, ants were my main issue. We tried everything....nothing worked! Finally, I was complaining to a dear friend, and she recommend the pest control service I LOVE! Killian Pest Control wiped out those ants in less than a week and they have never been back! They come once a month for a reasonable price - no service contract requirements, and very pleasant service! They call the day before they come, and are careful to not spray when the boys are peeking out the doors. (I was concerned about my youngest and his asthma issues....has not been a problem!) I talked to the pediatrician about it, and she said that the exposure to the germs and bacteria is worse than a little residue from the bug spray. Keep the kids away from the spray when it's wet, and any powder residue that may be left when it is dry....keep an eye out for more bugs.....especially under the couch, pillows, and inside the flaps of boxes.... Also, if you want to scare your kids into not touching black widow spiders, google their bites and show the kids the damage they do. posted by

Eww! My daughter has inherited my extreme dislike of bugs. It's a blessing and a curse. yeah, be careful opening up any boxes you have in the garage - spider heaven! Be prepared with a shoe in hand. I'm sure your sofa will be fine, but it would be better if it were inside. A leather sofa needs attention; it needs to feel appreciated. Bring that puppy in! :)

I can't bring in the leather couch. Believe me, I 've tried. Problem is my mother already had her own furniture before I moved in with her. Not like I moved into an empty house. There was only one room that could possibly accomodate it, the home office. But the couch is too wide to make the turn in the hallway to get it through the door. So, in the garage it sits. Obviously I don't plan to live with my mother forever, so I'm really loath to sell it. But it doesn't make sense to pay $200 a month for storage when I'm going to be here at least three years. After that amount of time, I could have bought a brand new one. So in the garage it stays. I will continue to dust, oil and clear it of spider webs.
