bushelandapeck - > -> And We'll Have Fun, Fun, Fun
And We'll Have Fun, Fun, Fun

My brain has been turning and turning this last week.  Preschool is almost out for the year.  What are we going to do this summer?  I have a little girl who likes to get out and about.  She loves to be around other people.  So, we must have stuff planned outside the house for summer!

I know that I have to book our swim schedule with our most wonderful swim teacher this week.  So that has pushed me into looking at the schedules for other summer activities.  Must avoid scheduling conflicts!

My daughter is 3 1/2, so any activites/camps must be targeted for that age.  That limits my options.  Also, I'm not big on being in the heat/sun for very long, so summer sports (even if they're scheduled in the morning) don't appeal to me.  The kiddo get a heat rash easily, and she's not what you'd call athletic.  So, t-ball, soccer, etc. are out.

We've been looking at Harmony Road Music School, and I think we're going to try a session there.  If we discover she enjoys the class, we enroll in their summer camp.

Any other ideas, my Bakersfield online community?

I thought I knew every storytime in town! Thanks for the tip on Berean!! We'll have to hit up that one soon.  We'll definitely be taking advantage of that this summer :)

We have been working hard at populating our events calendar with all of the storytimes and activities we can find. I didn't know about the storytime at Berean Christian store that Kevin mentioned, so I will have to get it added!

Here's a link to a great article that covers all of the local camps.

Please let us know if there is anything we missed in your search for things to do!

And Good Luck! :O)

Every Friday at 10:30 am at Berean Christian store they have story time.  They read several books to the kids and then have a drawing to give one away.  They have little snacks too.  When story time is over, they put in a video for the kids.  So you can stay as long or as little as you want.  It's also free, unless you're like me and end up buying something every time you go in there.

Holly enjoys it.  She gets to see other kids and the staff knows her name now, which makes her feel important.

My daughter had a great time in their toddler classes at Harmony! I really liked the program there.  I was going to suggest soccer, we used to do an 830 class at Liberty Park, but towards the middle/end of summer, it's even too hot at 830 a.m.  Well, we're going to be doing swim lessons and my son will be doing martial arts. How about the toddler gymnastics classes at American Kids Sports Center? My daughter takes a Monday morning class for 3 - 5 year olds and she is in love with it! Good Luck! I can't wait to hear other people's suggestions also so I can get some ideas :)

We tried Harmony Road last year and it's a good program, but I think Holly was a little two young (2 1/2).  So now might be the right age to get her started.  Holly is starting to "play" on our piano at home more.  So maybe we'll give it another go this summer.
