Transplant Update #3

I had a long chit chat with my niece last night.  The first thing I noticed as we talked on the phone was the joy in her voice.  I haven't heard her that happy in a long time.  The energy in her voice shot through the phone line.  She was buzz, buzz, buzz, talk, talk, talk - and I loved every minute of it.

She told me of her plans to finish college, to take a full load of classes next semester.  She dreamed of transferring to Cal Poly SLO to complete a degree in nutrition so she can help people with special dietary needs.  She contemplated some short term mission trips, and we named places she could go.

She told me all about her new "brother," the other kidney recipient.  They were on the same floor.  His wife is really nice.  He's a great cook.  In a couple of months, they are going to get together for a home cooked meal at her 'brother's house" in L.A.  They are forever connected.

And then she shared with me the letter she began writing to the donor's family.  Her gratitude is beyond what words can express.  She wants the family to be assured that she will take excellent care of herself and this kidney.  The letter is beautiful.  My niece is beautiful.

Life is good.  God is good. . . all the time.

That is SO awesome!  Glad to hear your niece and her new "brother" are both doing well.  What a beautiful way for the donor family to see the beautiful gift they gave to your family!  God is good....even in our worst times, HE is there!
