Pregnancy brain

I've been joking lately that I have "pregnancy brain." I forget stuff. Mostly words. I'll be mid-sentence, and for the life of me, I can't remember a certain word. I have to be really diligent with my lists at work, or else things just get away from me. I've been misplacing things at home, which is extremely rare for me.

So I thought I'd do a little Google search on "pregnancy brain" and what do you know, the term actually exists!

This site says "Pregnancy brain is a condition that affects expectant mothers, usually during the first and third trimesters. Sometimes known as placenta brain or baby brain drain, the condition is usually characterized by short-term memory loss or forgetfulness. Some medical experts say that pregnancy brain is a myth, but evidence shows that many women have experienced this condition."

Now I don't feel so alone :)

Umm... well whatever the scientific evidence I second the idea that it's real. I don't know about only in the first and third trimesters either... I am SUCH a space cadet these days...

and then there's post-pregnancy brain where after the baby is born you...wait, what were we talking about??  I'm really close to taking some ginko biloba to reproduce the brain cells my last son took from me.  It's been two months since his birth and...did I leave the iron on?

(that's a precursor to what I call  pregnancy induced A.D.D.)  :)

I second what Heather said! It's all part of the adventure!

You think it's bad now, just wait til the baby arrives. My theory is some of our brain cells are transplated to the baby and therefore we have less than we started with once they're born. :) The good news is, there are lots of other women out there unable to form complete sentences, they're called Moms, and they hang out in groups because no one else seems to understand what they're talking about! LOL!
