Hello!  My name is Kevin Morrison and welcome to my obligatory "Here I am and who I am" post.  Please remain seated.  Keep arms and legs inside the post at all times.

I am a 34 year old stay at home dad in Southwest Bakersfield, and here's my relevant stats (Wouldn't it be cool if we had "Dad Cards" like baseball cards?).  Married to Jill, a 4th/5th combo teacher at Fairview Elementary.  Raising five year old Layton and three year old Holly.  Impatiently waiting on Ileah, our baby daughter we are adopting from China.  There's a billion people over there and they can't get ONE more set of hands to speed up their adoption process??  I am a children's author, director of Sports Ministries at Christ's Church of the Valley, and youth director at Kaleo Fellowship.  I am a sports nut, chess player, book reader, and occasional laundry doer.  I am an Air Force veteran and proud to be in the greatest country in the world.  I just wish we would treat it better.

I would not trade my job for the world.  Being a stay at home dad is a dream job (assuming you chose it, and I did).  My kids are my joy (and my frustration, checks-and-balances system, laughter source, advice center, and best buddies)

In this blog, I will not be imparting any how-tos, why-tos, or who-tos that may be of profound revelation.  But I hope to share my experiences, and partnering with yours, we can make Bakersfield a great place for our kids and families.  And we can be encouraged in knowing that my kids are not the only ones who pour syrup on the dog or cut holes in their Easter dress, or (insert your child's highlight reel here).

I'm looking forward to some great conversations and new friendships!  Both are welcomed!

welcome to the group, Kevin.  Glad to see we can add another guy to the ranks here.  We seem to be a minority so far.  Then again, there are only like 10 people here right now. :)

Hey!  I'm a 34-year-old former SAHD of a 3.5-year-old!  Where were you when I tried to find more of us in town 3+ years ago?  ;)  Oh well--at least I've found you now!  Heh.  Happy to meet you, and glad you're here.
