Didn't summer used to last forever?

Remeber when you were a kid and you ran out of school on the last day, knowing that it would be eons before it started back up again?  I miss those days.  It seems, as an adult, that summer only lasts 27 seconds.  Our summer schedule is pretty much booked solid already.  We need to add a fifth season in between summer and fall to recover and prepair.  We'll call it Summerend or Prefall, or Comeupforairbeforedivingbackintochaos.

I'm still young but I can relate to what you are saying. My last "true" summer was a few years ago. I mean I did graduate high school last year (2007) but I was already booked for the oncoming summer with work and all the good stuff that you are referring to. Now I'm in college, and summer is coming again. Only now, instead of viewing it as a break, I view it has one of the worst times of the year in Bakersfield. Not only do I continue to go to school through summer, but I continue to work. Like you stated, there is no break hardly anymore. Summer is now only just a VERY hot working season.

I just need about a month-long nap, and I'll be good to go.

Last year my hubby and I went to Brazil for 2 weeks.  The preparation involved since we were leaving the kiddo in the care of others was overwhelming.  When we returned, we went right in to planning her birthday party (meanwhile I was sick post travel).  That was enough for me.

Summers full of bike riding and water play are wonderful.

Yes! Summers used to last forever! For the moment, I'm looking forward to summer.  Not having to get all 4 of us fed, dressed and out the door by 8 a.m.  I anticipating the spray parks, the swimming pools and Sno Shacks. However, in a month, when it's about 95 or so, ask me again. blech.

By the way my vote is for:  Comeupforairbeforedivingbackintochaos
