Wanted! Motivation, or a cookie... I like both

Too much stuff going on, and I'm behind on all of it.  You'd think being behind would be a good motivator.  Not for me.  Some day, I'll write a book on procrastination.  So why do I take on so much?  I'm not leading to an answer with that question.  I really don't know.

I cancelled a meeting tomorrow so I could go to...  another meeting, both of which would keep me from going on my son's field trip, with which I told his teacher I would help.

I am working on a script for church that was due April 1st.  I told my editor the revised edition of my novel would be in her inbox this week.  I have grand ideas for a new youth study series for church that I want to write.  I'm sure I'll be starting it Saturday night around 10pm.  I have devotions to write for summer camp, articles to write for the Voices, lawns to mow, rooms to clean, dogs to wash, bills to pay, dinners to cook, a softball league to run, church recreation to plan, sermon brainstorming with the pastor, two trips to make to the dump, weeds to pull, showers to take, and probably some other stuff.

I also have a 3 and 5 year old, who together triple the above list.

Calgon, Take Me Away!!

How do you get motivated?

What's motivation?

Kevin,I'm sorry! I know we cause some of that stuff!I feel the same. I was just driving home from Target where I was buying stuff for the Open House raffle fund raiser for school, realizing how many adoption cases I have due by the end of June, thinking of how I could possibly find a babysitter so that I could work in Jason's class tomorrow, which I told his teacher I would do because I thought I had a babysitter, thinking about how I could find a babysitter for the rest of the afternoons this week because I said I would work at James book fair, trying to figure out when I am going to review my curriculum for teaching a foster parenting class on Monday night, realizing I need to clean my house for small group tomorrow night, not to mention cook dinner for everyone, and more.Worst of all, I keep being reminded of the fact that last summer I was completely convicted by Psalm 46:10 which says, "Be still and know that I am God." When am I to be still? And yet that is probably the most important thing to help me to be able to accomplish all the things that aren't humanly possible. Yet when I am overwhelmed, I flip up the computer and start either reading blogs or playing solitaire - not a terrible thing by any means, but not necessarily what will help me either, especially the solitaire part.BTW - Brent is okay wiht postponing your meeting - he doesn't want you to miss Layton's field trip!

I'm not sure whether you guys (kevin and becky) make me feel lucky i'm not as busy as you or lazy because i'm not as busy as you. :)  either way, i'm not as busy as you.  I tend to pretend i'm not listening when someone asks me to do something i don't have time to do.  :)

Layton also has another field trip on Thursday, which I am going on.  Most parents don't go on any, or even set foot on campus the entire year, so I only feel guilty for a few breaths about that one.  It's an important meeting with Brent that I really don't want to push off any longer, but I do appreciate the offered flexibility!

Heather, Don't feel guilty - you probably have better boundaries!!! I don't think my busyness will last. I feel like this every spring when school is coming to an end!!!

I posted earlier that the boys were upstairs so I could clean the house, now the little one is asleep in my lap as I'm reading posts on the computer, the big one is doing school work or building something in the toy room and my house isn't getting cleaned.  I'm not very motivated this morning, but I did get my ironing done (yes I know lots of people do not iron anymore but my grandmother worked for a cleaners and would absolutely roll over in her grave if she knew my husband went to work in a shirt that wasn't ironed).  And speaking of going to the dump, we do not have trash service up here, we haul ours to the local dump every Wednesday, I say we when it's actually my dad that goes for me, but he is gone today so there will be no dump run, luckily we have 4 trash cans and I still have room to make it until next Wednesday.  But I do have a 1pm 4H meeting at our community center, sheets to wash/dry and make the beds, and make a great birthday dinner for hubby.

Back to the motivation thing, I signed on to a website called Flylady.net and get daily emails about cleaning and not being behind, and getting organized. It's really a great site even if you don't follow the program to the "T".
