You never grow out of it.
Or at least I didn't. I'm spending the next four days at Fairview Elementary, visiting as an author. I'll be going classroom to classroom, reading to the kids and sharing my experience with writing. I even teach a bit with the older classes, sharing a simple version of my writing formula, and creating a story with them. Simple, right? Except that for some reason I am worried about impressing the teachers even more than I was when I was an elementary student myself. When I walk into a classroom, I feel like a kid again; hoping that people will like me and the teachers will give me a good grade The kids, I love! They think I am a celebrity (and I'M not going to burst their bubble), but the teachers are studying my every move and word. Or at least that's how I feel sometimes. Thursday, I'll be in my wife's classroom at fairview. I'm hoping at least SHE will go easy on me. :-) 4 comments from 4 users

LOL The teachers are probably just happy to have another adult in the classroom! I bet you'll knock their socks off! posted by

One day down, three to go! I visited 4 classrooms today and they all went pretty well (I think). We'll see how the rest of the week goes. posted by
