Happy Anniversary, Jill

Seven years ago today, which happened to be the hottest day of that summer, Jill and I got married in Pasadena.  I was recently reading a poem I wrote a month after we met, and it still applies today

Jill,

It wasn’t that long ago
When I first looked into your eyes.
I saw your heart
And I saw your soul.
There, I saw a beauty
Wearing no disguise.

My heart leapt up
When I heard you speak
Of a love for God,
And of a love for children,
Of the simple life
And happiness you seek.

I thought on that night
That I might have found her;
The woman I want
And the woman I need
The woman God meant for me
Now and forever.

Since then
My love has grown stronger.
Your soft touch
And your sweet voice
All make me wish
That forever was longer.

I love when we are together.
I cannot bear when you are away.
You fill my heart.
And you make me whole
You are the reason
I breathe every day.

I never knew real happiness.
I only knew content.
Then you took my hand
And with it, you took my heart
You showed me
What “True Love” meant.

We talk about the future
And all the things we might do.
Whatever it is
And wherever we are,
Every day will be magical
As long as I am with you.

I love you, Jill
And I want you to understand.
I can’t give you the world.
I can only give you mine.
This is my promise to you;
That you will always have my hand.

With all my Love,
Kevin

Happy Anniversary!

This is also my anniversary too!  Steve and I got married today in 2001 also - but here in Bakersfield at Rio Bravo Contry Club.  I don't remember the heat, but it was definately the best day of my life>

Beautiful poem!

Happy anniversary!  Man, my poem wasn't NEARLY as good when I was dating Becky.  Mine went like this:

Roses are red

Violets are blue

Sugar is sweet

And you are hot.

sweet kevin!  i wrote my hubby a poem for our seven year anniversary last month :).  I never got around to buying a card because of the kids, so i took a recent picture of the two of us and faded it out in my photo program and then overlaid it with the poem and stuck it in a frame.  charles loves it!  now, i'm glad i never got a chance to buy a card because he likes the poem so much better.  happy anniversary!
