rockin out with your kids is awesome!
I have always felt music is one of the most powerful things on earth. It has the power to take you back in time and leave a nostalgic smile, or even tear on your face. It has the power to make it known that someone else knows exactly what you're talking about and how you feel. The power to make you feel better in general. I always knew music would be a major part of my son's life. My dad plays the guitar, I sing, we're slightly musically inclined. I want that for him, i want him to feel the same way about music as i do. I want him to be open minded about it and like all different kinds from everywhere. when i was pregnant woth him i used to put one of my headphones on my belly and one in my ear, so we could both hear. when he was a few months old i started to notice he would recognize the music we listened to a lot. i thought that was the coolest thing ever! he already knows what he does and doesn't like, he gets excited when the blue screen from the DVD players comes up on the TV, because he knows music is to follow! he has band and singers and intruments he likes already. He loves the piano, john legend and alicia keys are 2 he likes ecause of the piano. He LOVES breaking benjamin and three days grace.... he gets all excited when he hears any 3 of the breaking benjamin CDs. i just think it's cool hes so little but is already gaining an appreciation for music. AWESOME! 3 comments from 3 users

i listened to a lot of joni mitchell and neil young and innocence mission when i was pregnant with both of my girls. i put the headphones to my belly, played it on the cd player when i took a bath and sang the songs to them from the moment they entered into this world. they both love music and to sing--singing is my second language and theirs too and like you said, it is a great way to communicate emotion. it is a very spiritual thing because it transcends the everyday stuff. i even sing them to sleep--sometims mommy is too tired to read a story, but i can always share a song. posted by

music is powerful, no doubt. The first song my daughter showed signs of really loving, of all things, was a beat box track from Matisyahu. I think she was only one, and any time that track came on, she absolutely loved it. posted by

:) I love that my son often prefers to have the CD player on instead of the television. He tells me, "I want to dance, Mommy!" It's so funny. He prefers nursery rhymes right now--he is really enjoying songs like "Ring Around the Rosie" and "Head, Shoulders, Knees, and Toes." He likes the physical part of it--where he has to follow the directions of the song. :) But he also likes just having the radio on, too.
