Just take a deep breathe

Okay, so....My son, 16 month old little boy, woke up the other night with a fever of over a 100.  Although I am not quite sure if it was more or not because the "wonderful" thermometers that we have to use are so accurate.  I was freaking out so bad that I stayed up all night on the couch with him to make sure that his fever didn't get worse, go into a seizure, and not have an idea in the morning that he went through all this.  I understand I am a little dramatic about it, but after all the stories you hear as soon as you hit motherhood.....every new sickness, cold, outrage of tempers makes a mother "freak" out and examine everything to a T.  I guess this is just the beginning of all nighters from worrying, mind racing from different ideas and theories of how to deal with the situation at hand, and tons of plans put to the backburner because your lil one is sick.  It's amazing that not a single thing matters in the world as soon as this little person in your life needs you more than usual.  It really makes you grateful for every second of your life as being a mother.

hahah all this from a fever....imagine the stomach flu ;)

So how's he doin' now?  I do the same thing.  I check my girl multiple times, I have her sleep with me, and when I take her temp, I take it about 5 or 6 times for the sake of accuracy.  Rule of thumb is 3 days with a fever, go see the doc - unless the fever is very high.

those first, more obvious sicknesses are definetly a learning experience!

He's doing much better, thank you. But now we think he's cutting his last teeth because the fever has dropped, but he's now pulling at his mouth and screaming.  That I can handle...it's those all of a sudden sicknesses that freak me out.

And oh yeah....i totally checked his temp about 6 times, each time I took it...He now hates the thermometer :)
