A december adventure in Minnesota

My mom had been in town for a few weeks in midst of winter last year and we wanted to spend the day together. I was really needing some sort of adventure. Most of you probably haven't spent the winter in Minnesota so you must know this was a particularly cold time of the year. It was in the negative double digets with windchill.

The trip was doomed from start. With the chaos of kids, eating and overall slowness, took us 3 hours to just leave the house! It just got worse from there. Just so you understand, we were traveling with my daughter Zoe who was 2 at the time, my mom, and my nephew Dakota who was about 6 months. We pulled into the mall & I got out so that I could try to open the double stroller and of course couldn't figure it out. My mom suggested that we roll it inside with the two babies. So, I grabbed Dakota and my mom grabbed Zoe and we rolled in. We still couldn't unfold the stupid thing and after seeing us struggle, some nice onlookers gave us a hand. :)

As we were walking through JCPennys my mom TOTALLY blew out her knee out of no where! She torn out her ACL like 15 years ago and has repairitive surgery. Anyways, she kept walking trying to see if something would pop back into place but she was in great pain.

The babies were getting fussy and we forgot to bring any toys. (good planning) My mom asked me if I had anything Dakota could play with, so I said 'oh my keys' and proceeded to look for them. But they were NO WHERE to be found. I reluctantly retraced my steps everywhere we'd gone and could not find them.

Then- I got out to the parking lot. I found the car- still RUNNING! I thought for sure I had locked the keys in the car, but I hadn't even done that. It was open AND running! Now what kind of person would do that? HA! We're so lucky it wasn't stolen... but really even criminals stay indoors during the winter in Minnesota.  We decided it was time to leave since our trip was doomed from the begining.

This was years ago... but still a good, healthy adventure & memory. :)

My Aunt lives in MSP suburbs, I use to live in Chicago so I know what the COLD is like.  My Aunt says the one good thing about their extreme winters is it "keeps out the riffraff".....that's why your car didn't get stolen.  Funny story.

My husband would say that this sounds like something I would do. I beg to differ... but hilarious all the same!

ha ha ha ha - that is one funny story (now - I'm sure it wasn't then).
