srfbluemama - > The Crayon on the Wall -> I have good intentions.
I have good intentions.

Really, I do. I have all of these plans to organize my life, to get rid of the clutter, to make my house efficient. But life keeps getting in the way. That pile of stuff multiplies, and even though I go through that pile and make it smaller from time to time, it never does seem to go away. And that book that I picked up at the bookstore looks so much more tempting while the kids are napping than cleaning off my desk.

I have good intentions. I think in my head about all of the nice organizational items I am going to go buy, and then fill up and place in their designated areas. But then I think of how we should buy the kids new shoes first, or save up for our vacation coming up next month.

I save all of the neat little souvenirs and papers from life that would be so cute in the kids' scrapbooks, but have yet to actually crack open the scrapbooks and put them in there. I've put together ONE whole page, and that was before my son was born! So much stuff is just sitting in a pile, but I'm finally starting to plan a way to organize it all until I get around to putting it into scrapbooks.

The stuff that we don't need/use/want anymore I just can't seem to throw out. I can't decide if we should save it for that hypothetical yard sale, try selling the best stuff on eBay, or just bag it all up for Goodwill and be done with it.

One of these days I'll just do it. I'll get sick of the mess and the clutter, and really go to town. :) When/if that ever happens, I'll be sure to take pictures. Maybe I'll scrapbook about it!

I can pretty much ditto EVERYTHING you just said! As far as getting rid o things, I have learned to purge. And somtimes, although you could make money on it, it's really nice to just give it to Goodwill and be DONE with it!  With that being said, I'm actually on a mission to start listing things on Craig's List this weekend to sell.

totally been there!  what i do (sometimes) is what i call ten minute pick 'em ups.  i spend ten minutes cleaning up clutter that has accumulated over the week, right before i'm set to go to bed.  that way i am motivated to do it quickly AND not get caught up in a "cleaning project" that would require more time.  rule of thumb...throw at least HALF of the clutter away.  it can't all come in the house without other things being thrown out.  just can't!

Oh, yes, that's my life.  You know how much scrapbooking stuff I have that I don't use???!!!  And the hot spots around the house (that's what I call areas where things just seem to accumulate and then multiply overnight) - seems like I try to organize those spots, but then I'm not sure what happens.  Maybe cleaning those spots yearly isn't enought? :)  Don't we all need HGTV to come in and help?

I with you all on this one.  I used to be a very neat person - before college!  My parents used to make fun of me because everything had a place and that is just where it goes.  But after marriage and children, cleaning just takes a backseat to everything else that HAS to get done.  My kids are now doing a really good job in cleaning up their own rooms every evening and that helps the cleanliness of our home, but there are moments when I just want to give up because I spend hours cleaning and then my children walk through the room and you would think a tornoado swept through Bakersfield!  I've come to realize that keeping a "clean" house is just not something we do - there are so many more important things to do.  I just like it to be picked up.
