It has begun...

Abigail started crawling the a few days ago, just shy of her 10 month mark... I'm both delighted and scared- she's into *everything*.  She's gained confidence in her ability, and has started crawling after people, and the cats (which they are not happy about) suprisingly quickly.  She's also learning how to pull herself up on her crib railing- I walked in the other day to check on her, and was startled to see her head over the rails, looking back at me, just as startled.  We just dropped the mattress, and I suppose we need to drop it all the way to the last mark.

When it's quiet, and she's napping, I can't help but think about how much she's changed in such a relatively short time span.  It's both joyious and sad; I'm glad she's hitting her milestones, and is a healthy, curious little girl, but her independent personality is coming through, and I worry that her days of wanting to be held and cuddled are coming to a close.

It's only a matter of time before she learns to pull up on the furniture....;0)  make sure the outlets are all covered and cords for appliances (like the curling iron) are not dangling over the edge of the counter....my oldest was a fast crawler, like Abigail.  He also learned to walk very early, like at 11 months.  He crawled for a very short time, then just took off walking!  (He also was a climber of anything and everything!)  He followed my pattern on that and climbed atop the dining table at about 13 months (I was nearly 18 months when my mom found me on top of our kitchen table).

Video and take pictures as much as possible....I'm still showing my boys their baby videos (they are 4 and 6 now...) and they love to see themselves running around in diapers and onesies and splashing in the bathtub...and enjoy the giggles!

:) It's so wonderful and so bittersweet to watch them grow. It seems like it was just yesterday that my daughter started crawling. Now she climbs anything and everything she can find. Yesterday, she learned how to climb onto the barstools, at 16 months old. I have near-heart attacks almost daily with my 2 daredevils. But they both still like to cuddle up with me, together, in our recliner. It doesn't happen as often as it used to, but I love it when it does.

I understand.  I cried at every milestone, and I still do.  I cried the other day when the kiddo started rhyming.   And sometimes I pull out the dvds just to relive some of those precious baby moments.
