First of all, where can I get a Mint Julep? I LOVE mint! Secondly, We plan on staying for a long time!!! Obviously, things can change, but that is the plan. We moved here from an oil town, where we had lived sixteen years, and where we watched MANY friends come and go. Oil makes life hard - for more than one reason - look at the gas prices!! I don't know your first friend, but I do your second, and I am totally bummed that they are moving!! As for your final question, we came here because my husband is a pastor, and we were called to plant a church. I NEVER even dreamed of Bakersfield - and when it was presented as an option, I told my husband we should go look, but I expected to drive into and out of town without giving it much more thought. But we loved the people we met with and really liked most of what we saw, so here we are! And, now we really, really like Bakersfield! I don't really want to move.
