i listened to a lot of joni mitchell and neil young and innocence mission when i was pregnant with both of my girls. i put the headphones to my belly, played it on the cd player when i took a bath and sang the songs to them from the moment they entered into this world. they both love music and to sing--singing is my second language and theirs too and like you said, it is a great way to communicate emotion. it is a very spiritual thing because it transcends the everyday stuff. i even sing them to sleep--sometims mommy is too tired to read a story, but i can always share a song.
