Stephen didn't really have a list of names that stuck out to him, but he wanted the name to have a good meaning... so that meant no Mara (bitterness) or Kiera (dark). I hung out on a baby names site for several days going through the lists of boy and girl names and cross checking the meanings to make sure they were OK. I came up with 10 or so names for each sex. We went over it together and narrowed it down further based on what he did/didn't like. My advice is don't share your short list with family members or friends. I thought I wanted everyone's opinions and that there wasn't really a name that stuck out to me... well then we started realizing that there were a couple names that we liked more than the rest and when those names didn't get positive feedback I took it a lot more personally than I thought I would. Both my sisters said "ew" at our girl name, Jillian, and my dad said he was so glad that it was a girl because he "hated" our boy name choice of...
