Another solution for those boys digging in your yard....in the evening when it's too hot to garden in the daytime, I let the boys help me plant new additions to our flowerbeds, bulbs at the right time, or pull weeds...finding worms is fun too! One thing we have always had is the metal Tonka dump trucks....the boys have had a ball loading them up wtih dirt, weeds - anything else to dump and trucking it to the green can. (They also are a ball to sit in and ride in down the drive way into the street....when it's cleared by mom or dad!) The buried treasure is a great idea too - we do something similar with the dinosaur bones fron the dollar store.
