Will People Be Able to Tell Who I Am from My Posts?
It's up to you! By default, everything you post is anonymous, and your e-mail address will not automatically appear directly with your posts. If you want people to know who you are, you can optionally choose to identify yourself when you post something. Just select "Show my user name next to my post" at the top of the Post screen. You can further identify yourself in your post or in your profile, but this is not recommended – especially in sensitive areas like Connections. We also strongly discourage you from ever posting personally-identifiable information like both your first and last name, complete mailing address or phone number.
How Do People Respond to My Posts?
Other people can respond to your posts in two ways:
Send you a private reply. We anonymously forward these replies directly to the e-mail address you provided us. It is completely your choice whether or not to respond to these e-mails and reveal your identity to interested parties. Note that we only forward the initial communication from each respondent to you; but we do not read it, nor do we have any way to read it. We also don’t store it. You can rest assured that nobody at RaisingBakersfield.com will ever look at the text of these initial messages. Also note that after the initial response, your communications are between you and the individual in your respective e-mail boxes; they do not go through RaisingBakersfield.com’s servers.
Post a public comment. Public comments will show up at the bottom of your post, and whenever someone posts a public comment you will receive an e-mail with a link back to the post so you can read the comment. If you think someone has violated the Terms of Service in their comment, click "Report a Violation" and we'll investigate and remove the comment if it's a true violation.
What Computers and Browsers does RaisingBakersfield.com Support?
RaisingBakersfield.com.com works on a wide variety of computers and browsers, but we specifically test it on computers running Windows Vista, Windows XP and Windows 2000. On a Windows PC, the site will work best on Mozilla Firefox 2.0+, it will work pretty well on Internet Explorer 6.0+, and Safari 3+. However, for many reasons -- including your own security and privacy -- we highly recommend Mozilla Firefox.
RaisingBakersfield.com will also work on Macintosh OSX and some versions of Mac OS9. The best browser to use is Mozilla Firefox. If you have another browser, you can do most things on RaisingBakersfield.com -- with the exception of posting content. You must use Mozilla Firefox to post.

Is There Anything I Can’t Post?
Yes. If you don’t own the rights to something, or it’s illegal, gross or in bad taste, play it safe and don’t post it. You can find a current list of prohibited items in the RaisingBakersfield.com Terms of Service, which you must agree to when you register for a user ID.
If you aren’t sure if it’s OK to post something and you don’t see it in this list, please feel free to contact us to find out. But in general, use common sense.
What If I See Something That Violates the Terms of Service?
If you see something that violates our Terms of Service, we want to hear about it. The best way you can help us is to click the yellow “Report Violation” button below a post (you must click into the post to see this button). You can also find this link below any public comment or on any public profile. We will investigate reports, and if they violate the rules we will remove them as soon as we can. Please keep in mind that we will not automatically delete everything that is reported – rather, we will evaluate if it against the Terms of Service and remove it only if it is in blatant violation. Also, remember that because RaisingBakersfield.com is a community, we do not and cannot monitor every communication. To do so would destroy the very community RaisingBakersfield.com enables. We hope that like us, you value this community enough to allow things that we as individuals may not approve of ourselves.
Can I add a link to RaisingBakersfield.comfrom my own site?
