Raising Bakersfield

Well, lets see....

I'm a Bakersfield wife of 10 years, mom of 3, and business owner of Little Feet Repeats, a semi-annual consignment event for local families.

I grew up in the small town of Coalinga, CA and as soon as I graduated high school, moved to the 'big city' of Bakersfield LOL.  Compared to Coalinga, Bakersfield was HUGE!  Both of my parents grew up here, so all of my extended family was here, so it was nice to move out of the house and yet still be in familiar territory.

During college, I met my future husband and after dating for a year and a half we were married.  We then spent the next 3 years enjoying married life before we added our first child, Alyssa.  3 years later, Savannah joined our crew, and now, 3 years after that, our 3rd daughter Miranda made her great arrival. 

Through all of this, my family has been very important to me.  We decided immediately that I would be a stay at home mom (sahm) and yet still wanted to supplement my husband's income.  I opened my family home daycare and continued to provide daycare service until I was 9 months pregnant with Savannah.  At that point, I decided that I wanted to be able to spend more time with my family, so the daycare had to go. 

Around 2005, I came across the consignment event concept and decided that this was REALLY something that Bakersfield families needed!  I absolutely love it because local families are able to earn some money on their outgrown/no longer used baby, children and maternity items, while other families get a great discount on purchasing these gently used items.  Then, in my opinion, the most rewarding part is that local charities receive large donations at the end of the event.  It is truly a win-win-win situation for everyone involved and I'm very glad to be able to create it for Bakersfield.
