Raising Bakersfield

I'm the mom of a his, mine and ours family of three beautiful, busy and sometimes (if we're being honest here) bratty boys. Blending families comes with special challenges, but we're fortunate to have great friendships with the exes on both sides...something we worked hard at early on but that comes naturally now. People seem surprised that we coach teams together, co-host birthday parties and even spend a holiday or two across those blended lines. But our primary focus is the emotional health of our kids. Secondary is to spread the word that divorce doesn't have to mean you can't enjoy co-parenting!!!

In the other part of my life, I work full time as the Public Affairs Director for Kaiser Permanente and volunteer full time as a board member for the Boys and Girls Club of Kern County. In my spare time (I'm trying to say that with a straight face) I haunt second-hand stores for things to sell on Ebay, search Etsy for cool hand-made items, think of fund-raising ideas for the Club and try to give each of my three dogs enough attention to keep the hurt feelings to a minimum.
